The department of Surgery has two surgical units. Both the units cater for all types
of General Surgical and Surgical Gastroenterology work. These are facilities to
undertake prolene/mariex mesh repair of large recurrent inguinal and abdominal wall
hernias. A great deal of Gastrointestinal and General Surgery ONCOLOGY WORK IS ALSO
DONE HERE.

This department has done a large number of low anterior of resections for colon
and rectal carcinomas with and without the use of staplers thus avoiding the need
for permanent colostomies |

The general out patient work is mainly on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The other
days of the week are operation theatre days. |

|
|
|
|
|
This department also admits and treats a large number of trauma cases especially
those after major road traffic accidents. |

Coordinating with the department of Gastroenterology biliary and pancreatic surgery
is also done very frequently performed using the C-arm whenever needed. Facilities
